More specifically, I need to change some meta-data (for example output some custom fields data) in loop items
Have a look at GD > Settings > Pages > GD Archive Item page.
That is where you create the setup for each listing that gets displayed in the “loop”.add a filtering option that would output featured listings first but sort them randomly.
That is done at Places > Settings > Sorting tab.
