    Hello Felicia:

    Check out section 6 on this page: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/gd-search/

    Overall:

    1. Create a custom field that is admin only of type: Text (or checkbox)
    2. As per section 6 above make it part of search (Advanced Search Addon)
    3. If you use Text then default value claimed (if the person is entering it on add-listing then they wont be claiming it) – Or if Checkbox then have it checked by default to signify claimed.
    4. If you import your listings then make sure that column says unclaimed for Text or is not checked for Checkbox type.
    5. When a listing is claimed you must edit this field.
    6. Since you are an Admin you should be able to see and search this field from the front end.

    I have never done this before but this is how I perceive it to be accomplished. Paolo may have some better insight or may be able to correct me if I over-complicated a piece of the puzzle but I wanted to give you some thoughts at least to get you started.

    Warmest Regards,

    Jonathan

    Hello Memorex:

    Quick Question: Do you have the location manager addon installed?

    Also: Can you please clarify what you are asking. Any way to show a screenshot of what you would like to edit? Do you mean you would like link to click on a city name and have all of the places in that city shown?

    Note: Please do not send login details of any kind even if a private message as I AM NOT A GEODIRECTORY EMPLOYEE — just a fellow member trying to help out the community.

    Hello:

    If not using Buddypress or UsersWP then I would create a page that uses the GD_Listings shortcode as Alex suggested and then when users are logged in to link to that page in your menu.

    Hello David:

    As a fellow member I ran across your post. If you wish to make your own templates then follow the procedure on customizing templates and use short codes / css / etc to change the look and feel of the site : https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-shortcodes/

    THEN use the GeoDirectory Codex for reference for actions, hooks, filters, functions etc…. https://wpgeodirectory.com/codex/codex_project/geodirectory_templates/ to adjust any functional concerns you will have.

    If I have misinterpreted, please accept my apologies. I interpreted as you are trying to adjust Geodirectory templates or make pages from scratch using widgets ( and I presume shortcodes and css etc). Either way I hope these two links help you as much as they have and will continue to help me.

    Warmest Regards,

    Hello Kiran:

    Thank you for clarifying how WP Invoicing checks for discount expiration.

    I submitted a thread in the bug support forum for WP Invoicing regarding setting the time from the datetime stamp that is displayed. I believe your Calendar JS popup only supports date and therefore the time is not saved nor editable. Guust said he has added it to the list to be fixed.

    I think that will really help allow me (and I am sure others) to set a specific time of expiration to avoid issues like the one we encountered that started this thread. Not to mention run happy hour specials or other intra-day specials.

    Thank you Team GeoDirectory/WPInvoicing/UsersWP !!!

    Warmest Regards,

    Hello Joy:

    By settings do you mean the default near me settings under Advanced search which default to 40 miles? and seems to allow between 1-200 miles for variables. I would agree that more than 200 miles may be needed especially in certain areas where population density is sparse.

    If this is what you are talking about? Would you like more than 200 miles?

    Another thought for quick custom code would be to conditionally display a link when little to no search results of that locations region and display all the results from that post type and or post type / category combo. The links Alex provided could be of assistance to help find someone to accomplish this or to modify based upon your requirements above.

    Hello Balifornia:

    Sorry I saw your message earlier and I should have replied to let you know I was not a GD employee and thus I could not see your login details. I figured since they were not publicly posted, I could wait until I had a solution for you (it has been over an hour I believe).

    Our designer utilized a non Divi page to meet the requirements of one of our clients when the Divi Shop Module fell short. I will ask her to see if she remembers how that was done and see if it adds any Divi wrappers around the content sections she added as I believe it still used the Divi Header / Footer etc.

    Have a great day Balifornia. Best of Luck to you and your directory(ies)!

    Hello Balifornia:

    I happen to use Divi myself and our designer does most of the design aspect for our project but I decided to try and post a simple shortcode to our homepage to see if I could make it work.

    Shortcode used: [gd_homepage_map width=100% height=300 scrollwheel=false] (first example found on https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-shortcodes/ and it happen to be a homepage code).

    Steps:

    1. Went to list of Pages
    2. Selected by Home Page
    3. Selected Edit with Visual Builders
    4. Added a full width row with module type Code.
    5. In the content section I put the example shortcode: [gd_homepage_map width=100% height=300 scrollwheel=false]
    6. I selected the Check icon with green background to save and it the section to my homepage.

    I have never used shortcodes in Divi. We barely just integrated Divi within about 45 days. It was pretty seamless to me. Am I missing a step?

    Hope this helps or at least you can reply with the step where I may have misunderstood your needs.

    Warm Regards,

    Jonathan

    @alex Thank you for finding the article Paolo wrote about sorting by Price. Great tutorial.

    @broski If you think a feature like sort listing by price or a listing sort order as part of price (not just package display sort order) then go here : https://wpgeodirectory.com/requests/

    If it is already a requested feature ( I have not searched through the list) then you can add the request and then vote on it. You get 5 votes mointhly to upvote whatever Feature request(s) you want. I am not sure if Votes rollover or not so make sure to spent them when you get them to push your favorite features further up the chain.

    This is also to the right of this thread under Feature Requests.

    Best of luck to you!

    Hello Stiofan and Paolo:

    Interesting, there is an 8 hour difference between UK and US->California time, so the coupon therefore expired at 4pm PST. I was confused because your email came into my box at 6:40pm alerting me to only 24hours left for special black Friday promotion.

    This has really brought to my attention my need to check which times are used for various plugins Coupon codes expiration times. Does WP Invoicing Discounts expiration date use server time or outside time server to check when the Discount Expires?

    Thank you very much for your time and replies.

    That code snippet will ONLY affect the sorting of the Featured listings.

    For now just leave the number 50 in place ( you may need to make this larger if other listings relevance seems to superceede your paid listings)

    Usually with weight larger number falls to the bottom, however with relevance being a factorial the higher weight might mean more relevance ( I dont know the algoirthm that Stiofan) uses for sorting.

    In short, make all of your paid listings featured, leave the number 50, and apply the function to your functions.php file in your theme(or child theme if using a theme that gets regular updates).

    If you want something more complex like grouping by silver, bronze, or gold plans you will need a more advanced solution like my previous post recommended.

    Hello Ben:

    Try this CSS (hack):

    .geodir-i-email {
    font-size: 0px;
    }

    .geodir-i-email a, i.fa-envelope {
    font-size: 12px;
    }

    The first code tells all of the font to be 0px. Then the second CSS tells the link(s) and the envelope to be 12px (adjust to the size you need). Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Hello Broski:

    You would add this code to your themes functions.php file. See documentation that explains it a bit here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/understanding-hooks-actions-and-filters/

    NOTE: If you are using a theme like Divi then you should create a CHILD theme and so your parent theme can upgrade without losing your customizations.

    You can always search: https://geodirectoryexperts.com for GD experts. I plan on adding myself to the list as soon as our initial project is launched.

    I learned something myself, I thought display order in Prices was for the listing (NOPE) it is just for the Display of the Package itself and what order it is displayed in. (Not as cool a feature as I thought that sort order was fore).

    Sort Listings:

    Paolo said there will be a blog article: https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/listing-sort-order/page/2/ —> I cant seem to find it.

    Guust has some good points to ensure Featured listings appear first: https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/how-to-sort-by-category-with-featured-listings-on-top/

    Advanced Solution if you want a custom sort order beyond just Featured (not tested): https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-place-settings/#sorting

    Create a custom number field, Make it admin only so that it is not editable by the user, then include that field in sort options and make it the default sort option and viola you have a custom field you can sort listings by.

    I have checked the box to be notified of replies so feel free to reply if you have further questions. I hope I have provided some value to you regarding your listing search results sorting options.
