We do have a page in docs https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/social-importer-addon/
And this forum thread for updates.
As long as Facebook doesn’t clear up things, it is impossible for us to clear up things.
We haven’t managed to get straight answers from Facebook as it appears nobody else did. (see other plugins)
Nobody managed to get an app approved to make it work and there are no clear indication from Facebook on what we should do to get one approved.
We haven’t given up on the social importer, we are even adding other websites to import from for V2, like trip advisor.
We’ll keep using this thread for updates.
Thanks
I’ve quickly checked all of our competitors and in all their demos, the “Get Direction link” redirects to the Google Maps website. (except templatic, but on their demo I get an error instead of the directions, how surprising…)
Trip Advisor and Four Square redirects to Google Maps website too.
Yelp is the only one I’ve found that works like us and they provide the exact same results that we do for your case.

This would suggest that it is not a a programming bug and it cannot be fixed on our side. The problem, as Stiofan said, seems to be in the Google Maps API.
Can you show us a website that uses the Google Maps API and provide directions that works as expected, without redirecting you to Google Maps website?
Because if this is such a big problem, we could redirect to the Google Maps website too as everyone else does.
It could be a good way to reduce API calls and avoid getting charged for them.
What do you all think?
WP Hide appears to me to be the only problem.
I couldn’t find URL conflicts anywhere, but maybe Alex did and he’ll let us know.
Anyway, with WP Hide disabled the front end upload works fine.
It could also be possible that WP Hide has settings to allow the upload to work without having to get rid of it.
But that is something you should ask to the support team of that plugin.
Thanks
Everything appears to be working fine for me too.
I’ll set this as resolved, let us know if the problem comes back.
Thanks
p.s. very nice website! I wish you’d showcased it https://wpgeodirectory.com/category/showcase/
Hi Ian,
I’ve alerted the developers about your request. The 1st to come back online will let you know how to solve this.
Thank you,
Hi Benjamin,
I’ve flagged your request for a developer. They’ll let you know asap.
Thanks
Thanks Dirk for sharing…
Hi,
actually that is how it works. If you don’t want the date, I think it can be hidden with css, but when more than one recurring event is showing in a list, it will confuse your users.
Thanks
disabling the wp hide plugin fixed the problem.
It is probably trying to rewrite URL of uploads too.
Thanks
Hi CSGL,
should you offend us again in this forum, you will be banned from our community for good.
Social Importer is still available, because the Yelp part works and many use it.
Facebook changed the way their API work and they no longer want anyone to easily import from their database.
That is not our fault.
Plugins with many more users than us have the same exact problem:
https://theeventscalendar.com/product/event-aggregator/
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-event-aggregator/
Meanwhile, our websites (many of which rely on the social importer) lay stagnant and dormant, in some cases losing revenue.
If you based your business on importing data from Facebook, that since April is being questioned by both US congress and EU parliament on the importance of privacy and you haven’t changed your business model yet, you are borderline suicidal.
Blaming your poor choices on us, is irresponsible.
Thank you,
ok, thanks for the clarification, I understood the problem now.
I’ve asked to the developers why the get directions is trying to send you to
21870 Beaumeade Cir, Ashburn, VA 20147, USA
instead of
21770 Beaumeade Cir, Ashburn, VA 20147, USA
which is the correct address of that listing.
They’ll let you know asap.
Thanks for your patience,
Hi,
I just tested Google Maps and it gives you 2 options, 1 of 3.7m via State Rte 641 and Farmwell Rd and 1 of 4.4m via Gloucester Pkwy.
The plugin is returning the shorter one, so that can’t be considered wrong.
See image attached.
answer to your question here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/photo-tab-images-not-in-media-library/#post-399270
Thanks
In V1 we used geodir_get_post_meta, example: https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/custom-field-output/
TBH I’m not 100% sure Stiofan kept the same API for V2. (He’ll confirm tomorrow as soon as he comes back online).
If that returns any unwanted HTML you can remove it with PHP. http://php.net/manual/en/function.strip-tags.php
Thanks for your patience,
