Hi,

when you select Devon from the location switcher you search IN ALL Devon, when you type Devon in the near field, you search near the center of Devon for a radius of X km. (default is 40). If there are no listings within that radius it will say : no record found.

That X variable can be set in General > Search.

Let me know if extending the radius it works as you want it.

having listings go to “pending review” state instead of “published” on user submission

the setting for this is in GeoDirectory > Design > Listings however it will only work for free listings.

Paid listings are directly published, difficult that someone would pay to spam.

Without Google Maps API you cannot set the default location. Please try to do that 1st from GeoDriectory > Design > Map.
