not sure what’s wrong here. Too little information to give you a straight answer.
The only thing I know is that you should be able to use GeoLocation data without getting blocked.
If you give us more details, we can maybe help you debug your custom code.

if you have custom post type installed, you can change Places to whatever you like in GD >> Custom post types.
In our demo I changed places to attractions.
http://wpgeo.directory/attractions/
As you can see it changed everywhere (in the breadcrumb, the menus of the dashboard, in the title after selecting a category).
Can you please provide a link and wp admin credentials in a private reply to check your dashboard and see why this is not working?

If it is a single city and doesn’t include suburban areas that google consider indipendent locations, there will be no need for ML. Yes you will be able to search by ZIP code in a single location.

You are right, it appear to be reducing all pictures to 800 width max.
I’ll flag this for developers as it could use the Large size of wp media settings, giving users a way to alter the resize.
However, I still think you’d be better off hiding that featured image on listing details pages.

I’ve just tested it and the only thing I seem to be unable to do is totally deselect all options from a CF that had 1 or more previously selected.
Becuase if I deselect an option and select another option, it works correctly.
I’ll report this to developers.

the image you uploaded here http://www.weltonvillage.co.uk/places/united-kingdom/lincolnshire/lincoln/welton-businesses/one-hair-beauty/ is 800px X 524px.
the image you uploaded here http://www.weltonvillage.co.uk/2014/10/15/ashing-lane-nature-reserve-nwt-october-2014-update/ is 2032px X 670px.
If you upload an image larger than 976px wide and 313px high, it will work also on that detail page, but this is definitely a theme problem.
In fact, if you use the image of the 1st listing on a regular page, you will face the exact same issue.

That would require changing the multiselect used in the front end form.
I’ll flag this for the developers and see if it can be done without spending too much time on it.
