Or you can link directly to the search result pages, there is no easy way with WP to filter archives by custom fields.

Ok you have options for different category selectors in GeoDirectory > Place Settings. Click the category field on the right hand side of the screen and select anything but Ajax chained.

you must have another plugin hijacking our search results.
The URL should look like this:
https://myoverstrand.co.za/?geodir_search=1&stype=gd_place&s=+&snear=&sgeo_lat=&sgeo_lon=
Please try to disable all plugins and reactivate one by one till you find the culprit.

I fixed your pages using the GD Tools. Installing the theme should be just a matter of activating it and change the setup for it…
Whenever you change theme all widgets, menus and so on are reset (that’s how WordPress works)

Our option hides it for everyone.
I don’t know if there is a plugin that will hide it for users and not for admin.
In the wp.org repo there are plenty of options.

From what I see, it looks like you are on the right path…
I don’t think you need to re-install anything, you just need to complete setting up and enter data.
