there is no option to filter listings by a location via shortcode.

Only using GD URLs where the PHP for sessions the location are set you can do that.

yoursite.com/places/country/region/city

I don’t see that happening, I believe you authorized to share your location permanently, so that’s only happening locally on your browser.

The best thing is that you use 1 page without shortcode and just select it as the add listing page from GeoDirectory > Permalinks. GeoDirectory will take care of the rest…

if you select the page from GeoDirectory >> Permalinks, you must not add the shortcode and vice versa. If you use the shortcode, you must create a page for each CPT, because in the shortcode you have: listing_type=gd_event

yes there are hooks and filters to do just about anything.

The search form however is not part of the theme, its the gd search widget and it comes with GeoDirectory plugin.

I alerted the developers and asked them to help you with few pointers.
