We just bought the entire wp geo directory product and installed it on our Avada theme wordpress. With internet explorer when we view the Places page from our navigation it does not show the map at the top of the page. Mind you we did not make any changes to the settings plastered everywhere in the Geo Directory backend. We installed 20 demo records. We see at the top of the page our top navigation then part of our footer with a dark gray color going across the bottom of the top navigation, no map then the Popular Categories icons and some listings. On the right hand side we have the typical widgets that come from the Geo product. If you scroll all the way to the bottom of the page you see our original footer with the dark gray background and our address etc. We sometimes gets prompted to ALlow the site to now our location and other times we don’t. This is in Internet Explorer. Sometimes we do not see the top map with Chrome as well.
We need to find out why this is happening.

We also want to kow how we can build a custom listings page. FOr example we want to have a drop down men where the visitor can click Restaurants and on that page it has a map with markers only showing restaurants and the listings only show Restaurants and the widgets only show restaurants.

I cannot find any shortcodes in either of our page editors, we have visual composer or fusion builder that we can use to insert shortcodes. How would we go about building a completely custom page for listings?

We also want to charge a fee to allow for postings to be featured or inserted into banners and widgets. SO if a customer pays a certain amount they can have an ad appear on the top banner and in a widget and have a listing in a featured page.

Is it possible to create a completely custom page and pick and choose what listings and maps we want on that page?

Your geolocation settings are at GD > Advanced Search.

The Restaurant page will be at yoursite.com/custom-post-type-slug/restaurant-category-slug, like http://wpgeo.directory/restaurants/

To charge for featured listings, you need to activate the Prices and Payments Addon.

You can find shortcodes here to add to your WP pages: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-shortcodes/

You cannot create a page where you can pick and choose a map and listings. But every location and every category have their own pages by default. It might be possible to some extent to create your custom page, but it all depends on exactly what you want to achieve.

Always add URLs so we can see what you mean.
Also post your WP admin details in a private message, then we can have a look at your settings.

    Thank you.

I do not know why you are referring me to the Tour geolocation settings.

I did forget to post the link to my site. Here is a link to our main page. It is in spanish so the link that goes directly to the Places/Listings page is http://www.colombiaaquiya.com/gd-home/
I do see what you mean about the urls to the individual category pages

We do have the Prices and Payments add on. We can setup monthly and yearly fees for the listings? What if we want to charge for 6 months and if they do not renew/pay again remove all the info about the listing but leave the name and maybe address so it at least appears in the listings but no listing details for that unpaid listing.

You wrote “We sometimes gets prompted to ALlow the site to now our location and other times we don’t.”
So that is why I suggested to look at your settings at GD > Advanced Search.

Actually, this is your main category page: http://www.colombiaaquiya.com/restaurantes/

When setting up a price package with a limited time, you can set what happens on expiry. You would set it to downgrade to a lower package where the minimum is shown only.

The map does not show on the category pages because you did not add a map to the top section of the GD Listings pages, I fixed that for you.

The reason you see the footer temporarily while the page loads is because the page does not load fast enough it seems.

There are some errors on your detail pages like this one:
    http://www.colombiaaquiya.com/restaurantes/united-states/new-york/new-rochelle/hotels/chestnut-hill-hotel/

These plugins seem to give conflicts:

About this section of your last response,

“You wrote “We sometimes gets prompted to ALlow the site to now our location and other times we don’t.”
So that is why I suggested to look at your settings at GD > Advanced Search.”

I checked that section and the label that reads “Ask user if they wish to be geolocated” and the check box next to the sentence below is unchecked.
” If this option is selected, users will be asked if they with to be geolocated via a popup”

With Internet Explorer I still get prompted to allow the site to detect my location. If I say allow once then the map will load within a few seconds. I know I can tell my browser to always allow but I am trying to make the user experience better and they may not want to allow or think it is safe when they get that message.

A browser will know if your site want to geo-locate and will ask, regardless of your GD settings.
You cannot change the browser settings of your visitors either.

I understand about the user being prompted for Allowing to track their physical location. But what seems to be happening is the map will not show on the home page until I click the Allow button in Internet Explorer. Now one other thing I tested was, I shut down internet explorer. Started it back up then I went to one of the category pages such as, http://www.colombiaaquiya.com/restaurantes/food-nightlife/

When I go to this page in Internet Explorer the map comes right up and I do not get prompted in Internet Explorer to Allow the site to track.

How would we handle displaying all of the Geo in SPanish?

I just checked another computer we have not used to access the site previously. It does the same thing in Internet Explorer and CHrome as I explained in the message just prior to this post.

You need to use the translation files, see https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/category/translation/

You did not have the same page at
    GD > Permalinks > Home
    and
WP Settings > reading > front page.
    https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/basic-installation/#home

    Does that solve your issue?

We do not want the GD page as the home page we already have a default home page. We have a link off the main menu called “Referencias Profesionales” and under that is the link to the page we are having the issue with the map automatically showing. That page url is now pointing to the same page as our home page. We need these two pages to be separate.

    The 2 pages at
    GD > Permalinks > Home
    and
WP Settings > reading > front page
    have to be the same.

Swap both of those settings to whatever home page you want.

Your start page of the directory is at http://www.colombiaaquiya.com/location/

I see what you are saying however now it seems that the only way for this directory product to work is if I make both of the sections point to the same page. Now my home page is showing the GD content and we do not want that. We cannot use this product if it is not going to work as expected. I build many websites and have never experienced this requirement before. We had an entire website before. All we wanted to do was have a single menu item off our navigation point to what you call the GD Home page. We had gone through 3 other plugins that worked the way we would expect we just felt that after having to shell out $150 while the other plugins are alot cheaper that maybe we would get more from it but this limitation is a deal breaker for us. We also wanted to build a few other sites like the one we are working on now and cannot continue to run into this limitation. Can you let me know what else can be done and why was it setup this way? This is why I was also asking how I can go about making my very own custom designed page and insert the components/plugins needed to simulate what the GD home page does so that we would know we can build it the way we needed it to be.

On the translation note I have tested an edit to the core language and it worked. I was setting up the directory structure for the add ons that have to be setup with translation and noticed that a few of them are not mentioned in your online doc located at https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/translating-addons/

I am not sure what to name the language directory under wp-content/languages for the following add ons:

    Payfast
    GD Booster
    Captcha

Sorry I am hitting with you several items. I did not mention this before but I will now. When I click on one of the Popular Places on the left of the listings page or one of the Latest Places on the right hand widgets the page for that listing will appear but then I see the thumbnail for the listing and at the top right hand side of the thumbnail it shows a red “NEW” image and about an inch to the right of that it shows the cursor spinning with two arros going in a circle but it never displays anything. What is supposed to be there I assume the details of the listings and a map?
