I have a site that I converted and the category icons were not associated with the place categories. I have updated the icon images however they still will not display on the map. I noticed the slug’s have an “-1” appended to each slug name and I suspect this is why they will not show. I cannot edit the “-1” from the categories however.

    Any ideas?

The “-1” is because the slugs are already used somewhere else.
Try re-saving your WP permalinks first.
If that does not solve it, run GD > GD Tools > Location category counts
If all that fails, post your URL and WP admin details and we will have a look.

The slugs are already used by your tags.

None of your listings have proper addresses assigned.
Please review GD > Multilocations > Manage Locations.
All locations have to follow the format as per https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/definitions/#location

If you have proper addresses for the listings, then it all works, see for example
    /location/united-states/florida/

I did finally see what you mean. I found the geodir_gd_place_details file and must correct the city, region, country and locations data in it. The pins show on other maps but if I remember correctly the locations data must be there for the main map under the home page so I will correct the table to fix that.

I have two questions however, for some reason the map GMap Home Page is no longer showing just under the home page and I have a swing out map I cannot get rid of when i list by categories (attached file). I cannot locate what I am doing wrong in not finding these.

    Thanks again.

I suggest you export your listings using the GD Export function, correct the addresses and re-import.

the map GMap Home Page is no longer showing
You have removed the GMap Home widget from the location/home pages.
Review your settings at GD > Design > Home tab too. You only have a content section of 63% wide.
    https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/layout/#directory

I have a swing out map I cannot get rid off
GD > Design > Listings tab and Search: The Listings and Search pages in Supreme are not designed to use the top section, so you do net get a scroll bar on the right hand side of the page.

    Guust,
    Hello once again.
I had finally got the site looking correctly with the GD Home pages set as the static page. When I first start up the site it has the GD Home page however when I navigate to another page and come back it defaults back to Home page and is formatted differently. What could be causing this. I have set the default in the settings and also customizing bar on the right side of the page but the same condition occurs. The static page stays set at GD Home page but does not display it.

    Thanks,

GD Home Page is the same as your /location/ page unless you modify the page.

You are not using any sidebar or main content section on your Home and /location pages.
Review your settings at GD > Design > Home tab
Please review https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/layout/#directory so you understand GD pages.

You should not add a GD Listings Map to a footer widget, because that will add it to all your pages, and that is where the flyout comes from.

    Guust,
When I converted from GT to GD, the locations were not converted correctly so I noticed that the …gd_place_detail table [],[],[] did not have the [city],[state],[country] completed in the post_locations field nor did the post_zip, post_city, post_region or post_country contain necessary data. The post_address had some corrupted data in it so I cleaned these fields and included the data necessary. My experience with a former conversion fixed the problem with not showing the location pins on the home map however the pins in this case are not showing. Some locations (not all) show on other maps but not the home map.
I noticed that in the WordPress dashboard Places view that the Location(ID) column contains –(2) for each Location(ID).
My question is, what could I be missing that would prevent the locations from showing? I have 2151 locations so I am seeking the least painful, bone chilling solution possible since it took about 6 hr to clean up the info I have found to be a problem thus far.
By the way, I do like the simplification of the data storage you have used on GD vs GT.

Once again, thank you for your help again.

I suggest you export your listings using the GD Export function, correct the addresses and re-import.

There are still lots of places without a proper address, for example
    /wp-admin/post.php?post=7011&action=edit

Adding the address to the place in the database does not add the location to the list of locations.
You need to export the listings, correct, and re-import.

    Thanks

    Guust,
Before I spend many more hours modifying another table, I do not understand why with 2100+ listings and some already showing on other maps why nothing shows on the home map. Furthermore I have added new listings as a test and they do not show, why would this be?

If you have one bad listing it can break a whole map.
You probably have a bad listing in OTR or Regional, because if I remove those categories by default [at GD > design > map] the location map loads fine on the homepage.

DO NOT modify tables in the database; you must correct your listings using the CSV file export/import.

I was not going to modify in the database but I wanted to know why I could not add a new listing and it show first before I modify with the i/o function.

Is there a way I can disable OTR and Regional or must I export => remove => import to make that work until I find the listing?

You can add a new listing and it will show unless there is another listing on the same map that is breaking the map.
I added one and it is fine on
    DETAIL /places/lease-purchase-1/guust-test/#post_map
    LOCATION /location/united-states/wyoming/
    LISTINGS /places/lease-purchase-1/

I’ll ask the other if they have a tip to pinpoint the bad listings.

    Guust,
I followed your advice and edited what I thought could be the problem in openoffice. The pins are finally there. Thanks.
