I have very carefully set the names of the fields… saved a csv file…. it uploads .. but then I get not a valid csv file… is there a bug in v2 or is there something I am missing?

there is also a difference between exported CSV from dummy data and the sample import file

it looks like locations — cities and regions need to be created first before import? this is using location manager… multi city, multi region v2 … new site

without doing that, the site sort of works… not sure

No, but you should add a test listing to see how locations are formatted.
Locations should not be imported, generally. They are created automatically when listings are added through the frontend or imported, either one.
Make sure your default location is set, and that your maps API key is working (check by adding a listing).
To add locations outside the default location, yes you will need the Location Manager, and enable Multilocations.

the locations do not seem to be created on import for some reason. i verified this by checking my locations — only the default and the one I added. I have location manager and enabled multilocations.

I imported and exported a few times to check if something was not formatted… but it seems ok .

only other possibility is the NAME of city and region … maybe it should be post_city ?

Please zip the import file and attach to a private reply.
Then also include your site URL and WP Admin and we will take a look.

Did you already add a test listing then export? Please confirm?
We have the entire recommended procedure documented here:

I found the problem …. the country needs to be United States NOT the slug united-states

    now everything seems ok……
