    Hi,

We need your advice to structure a directory site to accommodate the following:

    1. The directory will cover one country with 12 region and 70 main city.
    2. The site will include two languages.
    3. Events national wide.
    4. Search for any listing with branches if found.
    5. Search for the related listing national wide or (region – city – certain area).
    6. A to Z Glossary (Hierarchical Taxonomy)
    7. Displayed A to Z Glossary horizontally with ascending order like:
(ALL-0-9-ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ) These letters glossary will act like ( index page or tab or bar ) for many trems entry (Custom Post Type) each trem will have a title for its heading and the body text for list description.
    8. Setup the main listing index page to the reflect dynamic listing for many category.
    9. Chronological steps to setup the tree like GFS (Grandfather – Father – Son) which reflect the main structure for
    ( country – region – city) .
10- The best way to define correctly the (Hierarchical Taxonomy) from the categories so the directory work smoothly for our scenario especially the CMS between the index listing and all relevant geographical locations.

Please try your best to explain in detail the structure for the above requirements and we wish if you have a detailed case study video to show ALL GD functionally and capability with FULL setup to accommodate this requirement in form of video tutorial which we can follow to help us build the site.

    Thanks,

    Hi there,

Let me try to answer your questions accordingly and then of course if you have any further questions we can answer those for you as well.

#1 This would require using the “Location Manager” add-on https://wpgeodirectory.com/downloads/location-manager/ and please refer to the docs for more info https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/category/addons/location-manager/

#2 We recommend WPML for multiple languages which are compatible with GD

#3 Use the GD “Events” addon. https://wpgeodirectory.com/downloads/events/

#4 This would require “Advanced Search” addon https://wpgeodirectory.com/downloads/advanced-search-filters/

    #5 Refer to #4

#6 and #7 Please see available sorting options https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-place-settings/#sorting

#8,#9 and #10 Sorry, I’m not sure if I’m getting this. Could you elaborate a little bit more?

Furthermore, please refer to our documentation as it covers all the aspects of creating a directory which also includes video tutorials. https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/

    Thanks!

    Hi there,

Let me try to answer your remaining questions.

#8 We’ll need to see some samples on your Website to understand more about this. By default, all listings are categorized on the homepage and clicking on an individual category will display all listings in that particular category. Isn’t that what you’re looking for?

#9 GD supports sub-categories which would allow you to link to the main category and I hope I’m not misunderstanding this.

#10 You can start your directory by preparing all the categories that you required. Check out this section of documentation as it explains more about preparing locations https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/location-manager-faqs/ .Then fill up your directory with some listings and start preparing some price package with multiple payment modules. When you’re done, enable SSL for Geolocation.

    Thanks!

    Hi there,

I’m sorry for the late reply. Sorry, I’m not really sure what you’re trying to achieve with GD. As you know, dmoz is a directory of Websites. So, are you saying that you’re trying to built a directory of Websites and also include a listings of locations? I’d suggest that you start working on your directory and let us know if you’re stuck somewhere in between and we’ll try to guide you through.

    Thanks!

    Hi Omangate,

    1) in MultiLocation you have settings for this. 1st create the 70 cities and 12 regions. Than in MultiLocations >> Geo Directory Location Settings select :

    Enable Selected Countries
    Enable Selected Regions
    Enable Selected Cities

and select your country, 12 regions and 70 cities.

    2) You’ll need WPML
    3) You’ll need the events add-on
    4) You’ll need the advance search add-on
    5) Same as 4
    6) GD doesn’t provide such option
    7) Same as 6
    8) I don’t understand this question
    9) Same as 8
    10) This is part of your decision making process, we don’t participate in that.

    JUST FYI:

support doesn’t help you plan nor provide case study video to show ALL GD functionally and capability with FULL setup to accommodate this requirement in form of video tutorial or PDF which we can follow to help us build the site.

I would charge $500/day for similar level of consulting (and I’m not even available).

You’ll need to hire a consultant to help you out if you need that much information.

    Thanks

    Hi,

you shouldn’t be using categories as locations, because GeoDirectory uses its own special location fields.

Categories are used to define the business, not the location. For example if you directory is about Hotels, your categories will be 1 star, 2 stars, 3 stars, 4 stars and 5 stars.

Not New York 1 star etc.

As I said GeoDirectory doesn’t have a feature to create an A-Z glossary.

    Thanks

    Hi,

each listing can only be in one city.

If you have businesses that have multiple locations, you can use the Franchise Add-on that will allow to create the main listing franchisor and duplicate that listing with different addresses to create the franchisees.

    All listings have reviews.

    Hope it’s clear.

    Thanks
