    Hi,

I have created http://www.thisisingleton.co.uk and had a really good experience with GeoDirectory (nice job guys). I’ve managed to figure out most of what I’ve needed to do but am stuck on a couple of things…

#1: The site uses a custom homepage so the GD homepage is at http://www.thisisingleton.co.uk/location/. It won’t display the content I’m trying to add by just clicking Edit page. The only why I seem to be able to add the content above the ‘Popular Places’ section is by adding a ‘Text’ widget which is not good enough as my client will want to add some nice images etc. How do I show the content I add when clicking ‘Edit Page’ and adding content like a normal WP page?

#2: The ‘Place Category Description’ that appears under the category title is limitted and I can’t find where to remove the limit. See http://www.thisisingleton.co.uk/directory/things-to-do/ for an example where it has been cut off at ‘excel’. How do I get the full content of the ‘Place Category Description’ to show?

    Many thanks,
    Adam

    1. Have a look here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-design/#typical
GD pages are not normal WP pages, they are using special templates.
The design is done with widgets after you set the general layout at GD> design > Home tab

    2. Can you post your WP Admin details in a private message so we can have a look at your settings.

So for #1 I need to use the ‘Text’ widget as I’ve already started doing to manage the custom content I want there?

    Thanks for the quick response!

    1. You can use most widgets there, including text widgets. That will be used for every location page though. Have a look at this too: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/location-manager-widgets/#desc
[sorry about the missing images – need to work on that 🙁 ]

    2. Update all your GD plugins first, I think that is a bug that was fixed.

    Hi Guust,

I’ve updated the plugins but #2 is not resolved. Am I missing something? Maybe some setting somewhere?

    Thanks,
    Adam

    HI,

I can’t really find a good reason for this to happen. It must be a plugin or a theme option causing this.

Can we deactivate all non GD plugin momentarely and switch theme to a default to see if the category description get fixed?

That way, if we can identify the culprit, it will be easier to fix the issue.

    Let us know,

    Thanks

Tried deactivating all plugins apart from Cornerstone Couldn’t deavctivate that – I’m using X). I did not switch the theme yet. So far no luck.

If I switch the theme to a default will I lose any work I’ve done using the X Theme when I switch back? I assume not but need some more confidence I guess before switching.

    Thanks,
    Adam

    Hi,

switching back and forth should not result in the loss of options, however I’d ask to X support to confirm it.

    Our themes work like that.

    Let us know,

    Thanks
