    Hi,

    Re: http://studentflat.co.nz/places/house

This was working last year, is no longer working for some Categories.

I’ve looked over the admin UI and database to debug to no-avail; best to have your expertise to assist us please, we bought a license specifically for this support request.

    Regards

    Mike

Can you please update everything first, including wordpress and your Supreme theme and Directory Starter theme.
All your GD plugins are quite old, so you will have to update them using FTP or with this plugin: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/useful-plugins/#easy

Also read here about the Pricing Manager version 1 being obsolete and what to do about it:
    https://wpgeodirectory.com/payments-manager-v2-setup/

    Thanks

    Thanks for investigating Guust,

A full upgrade represents quite some risk for us at this time in heavy production.

    Q. Do you have any pointers I can follow to resolve without upgrading ?

This support request comprises 2x faults:

    1. /places url does not work for some categories like /places/house
    2. /?geodir_search=1&stype=gd_place&&sgeodir_propertyType=house
2.1. Does not work for custom fields like this, previously before your access it would return nothing for both house and apartment

    Regards

    Mike

Only the latest versions are supported, and are guaranteed to work.
PHP versions, WP versions etc all move on all the time, and you should keep everything up to date for security purposes and bug-free operation.
Unless you made changes to core files of plugins and themes [which you should never do], there is nothing to worry about when updating.

    Thanks

Another very smart thing to do, is to maintain a staging website identical to the live production to do every kind of tests before applying changes to the live website.

    Thanks

We solved half the problem ourselves. The homepage map works, so we use those constraints to filter the homepage map, triggered from the ‘Popular Categories’ links on homepage.

We are very disappointed that the system after 12mths simply does not work to filter by Category in the main paginated interface.

    Hi Mike,

as Guust said, that can be a consequence of so many things (most of which could be external to our code) and our support policy is extremely clear, we only provide support for the latest version.

You are running theme and plugins that are from July 2016, that’s a huge security risk especially considering that in version 1.6.19 we released a patch to prevent the WP Session class lib to expose the Session ID publicly. (2017-05-03)

Take note that you are the only member reporting something similar right now. So most likely the problem can be solved by just updating.

Because you chose not follow best practices (running outdated software, not having a staging server) you shouldn’t be disappointed on us. That’d be extremely unfair and illogic.

Please read our support policy, it didn’t change since you joined. We always only provided support for the latest version. https://wpgeodirectory.com/support-policy/

    Thanks

Hi folks, We have now upgraded and the bugs are fixed, thanks.

Re: “Unless you made changes to core files of plugins and themes [which you should never do], there is nothing to worry about when updating.”

    Q. How do I create a child theme of ‘surpreme-directory’ when it is a child itself ?

We tried and WordPress complains that ‘surpreme-directory’ does not exist.

You can made PHP changes using the Code Snippets plugin: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/useful-plugins/#snippets
And CSS changes using a CSS plugin or add to GD > design > scripts.

    Thanks
