Theme Update Issues

1) Can i update the GDF Modern manually, upload the new version when it is available?
Yes, but being a child theme that is usually not necessary. A child theme is used so you do not have to make changes to core files of the parent theme itself.

2) How often you engineers revise the GDF and GDF Modern?
Only when required to fix compatibility with newer version of WordPress or GD etc.

3) Will we get the email notification of the new version/ update when release?
An update notification will alert you in the admin area of your website.

Thanks for your reply. A child theme doesn’t have to be activated to use it and you can just ignore the “license status unknown” message. Just use it now and you’ll get notified when an update arrives. Then, you’ll just have to replace the child theme manually.

Just install both parent and child theme since you want to use the GDF Modern design for your Website. Then, activate the “Child Theme” GDF Modern and start setting up your directory following the instructions here https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/category/getting-started/

Thanks for your reply. Yes, the theme will not be updated automatically. There is no rush actually and you can put your Website down for maintenance using 3rd party plugins like this one https://wordpress.org/plugins/maintenance/ . Then, you can manually update it using FTP. If you are not sure, you can always contact us here and we’ll guide you through step by step.
