Hi
I just installed your plugin and need to realize the website as soon as possible
So I have some question that could help me going faster.i have set the homepage. The homepage display the map with places
For us the home page display the main section (places) with the subcategoriesNow, we need to create another section. This section should appear in the menu
And when we click on it we should see something similar to homepage : a dedicated map for this new post type and respective categories/listing.
How can we do that ?Then we want a third section/post type with map/categories…
Thanks
April 30, 2017 at 10:10 pm #376279In fact third section should be the events!
I saw that different post types are added to the bottom left of the map.
Ma goal is to have only one post type on home page and other post types on other pages. If not possible, is there a way to have those links in another place, or more visible ?
May 1, 2017 at 4:38 am #376303All pages are there, you just need to show the links using the widgets etc.
Create a test page with both these shortcodes, and you’ll get an idea of what you have [but did not know you did].[gd_location_switcher]
[gd_cpt_categories]Also review https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/layout/#directory
Let us know how you went.
May 1, 2017 at 11:00 pm #376463I read but can’t succeed.
I installed the plugin. I set main location and other little settings
Then I added a second post type
The main map on home page display the 2 post type categories (i would like to display only 1)I created a wp page dedicated to the second post type (companies) but i called this page with another name. I inserted the shortcode you gave me and the page display the location switcher and the title of the 2 post types (places and companies) with respective categories below each title but no map related to companies post type.
I tried to add the gmap widget in different places in the widget area but map wont appear in this page
too.I went on http://www.mysite/companies and there i can see an empty map with this notice
No Records Found
Sorry, no records were found. Please adjust your search criteria and try again. So i’m a bit lost….
Thanks again for your helpMay 2, 2017 at 11:15 am #376499Please post your URL and WP admin details in a private reply and I will link to the relevant pages that are described here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/layout/#directory
so you can see what I mean. The shortcodes I gave was to create links to the auto-created pages; those are your GD pages, no need to create any other WP pages.
Did you add any listings already?
May 2, 2017 at 10:18 pm #376633This reply has been marked as private.May 3, 2017 at 6:56 am #3766591. If you do not want to use a GD location page as your website homepage, and you want to only show Places, you can create a WP page and add relevant shortcodes: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-shortcodes/
2. For Listings pages (custom post type pages and category pages) you use the GD Listings sections to add your widgets. https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/layout/#directory
3. To change sizes of maps etc, please review the settings of the widgets.
4. – if I want in home page or in post type page add custom content how can I do it ? (for example introduction text, pictures….)
For category pages, add a description to the category at Places > Place Categories
For location pages, add a description at GD > Multilocations: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/manage-location/#edit5. To charge a fee for listings, you will need the Payment Manager.
Thanks
May 4, 2017 at 1:49 pm #376904Ok thanks thanks a lot, I understand much better everything and now my ideas are more clear but I still have some questions and hope you can also give me advices.
If I decided to have a different page for “prestataires” post type it’s because I need a lot of search fields. I need more than 20 search fields for Places, more than 10 for Prestataires and some for Events and don’t know how this can be displayed! I checked sites in showcase page in your website, docs, but still difficult to imagine.
First, the best solution is probably to not display any map on home page.
I found what I need here : https://www.spacebase.com/en/berlin/
Watching this website, here are the points1) SEARCH
I need this type of presentation for the search already on home page. Maybe to put it over a slider
Then when you do a search, you still have the same search display in the other pages.
On spacebase website “Workshops” and “events” could be my post types (places/prestataires/events).
Then below the titles you see the main search fields, and you have a button “show more filters”.I hope that I can realize that too.
Event better would be, to be able to switch between post types, and see the search fields below changing respectively to their post types. (with ajax, without the page change or reload)I would have below each post type, the main categories to check/uncheck, 2-3 main search fields and other fields hidden in a “show more filters” “curtain”
Is this possible?2) RESULT OF SEARCH
Once you search you should arrive on a page like the one from spacebase. (who is similar to airbnb)
The map on the right and results on 2 or 3 columns on the left
Would be nice to be able to display things like this3) THE MAP
If you click on spacebase map, on a pin, you’ll see that the listings on the left scroll automatically till the choosen respective pin location. Don’t know if this is possible4) HOME PAGE
We start in one location our project, but after a few weeks we will add a second location and then other locations. What is your advice to add this aspect on home page and all the pages? Thanks a lot for your precious help
May 4, 2017 at 2:33 pm #376909Have a look at the Supreme theme:
info: https://wpgeodirectory.com/downloads/supreme-directory/
demo: https://wpgeo.directory/supreme-directory/
search page: https://wpgeo.directory/supreme-directory/?geodir_search=1&stype=gd_event&s=+&snear=&sgeo_lat=&sgeo_lon=
location page: https://wpgeo.directory/supreme-directory/location/united-states/
category page: https://wpgeo.directory/supreme-directory/places/united-states/new-york/new-york/food-nightlife/
detail page: https://wpgeo.directory/supreme-directory/places/united-states/new-york/new-york/food-nightlife/beer-fantasy/Locations [cities] are automatically added: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/manage-location/#edit
List of [most] widgets: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/widgets/
May 4, 2017 at 3:21 pm #376914In fact the Supreme theme is good for many aspects.
Sorry to bother you but still have some questions :/1) Is this possible to achieve the same result with divi theme ?
If yes what should be necessary ?2) more important… as I told you , i don’t see advanced fields
If I have more than 30 search fields for places how could I display them ?
The whole project is based on these fields
I would love to have something like in the spacebase site, hiddel search fields that can appear clicking on a button3) in the search results, is this possible to display for ex the price over the pictures of each location?
Thanks
Then I’ll stop with my questions and go on building the project 😉May 4, 2017 at 7:19 pm #376950Hope you can help me with those 3 last points so I’ll be able to go on.
May 4, 2017 at 11:33 pm #3769751. It would require a major customization of the Divi theme.
2. See bottom of this page: wpgeodirectory.com/docs/gd-search
3. Yes, with a custom field and some CSS,similar to https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/custom-field-examples/
Thanks
May 5, 2017 at 9:30 am #377014Ok thanks ! I’ll test your theme, I just hope I can add content on home page but probably yes.
thanksMay 5, 2017 at 10:04 am #377020Yes, you can add content to the homepage.
