So, GDV1 displays content with widgets and shortcodes, and there is a GD Home page, which is set on your site as a sub-page and the home of the directory.
GDV2 uses shortcodes, blocks and widgets, and you can build a custom home page.
In either case, the “default” settings are just a combination of widgets/shortcodes.
It sounds like you want to place a GD > Home Map on the home page. Have you tried that?
You can use the options in
GD – Design – Home
to adjust the display of the GD Home page.
You can also just go ahead and convert to V2 which offers a lot more flexibility with building a home page to meet the needs of your niche site.
https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/geodirectory/installation/#convert
I have adjusted the settings as shown here:
https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/geodirectory/getting-started/#permalinksBasic Builders can’t be used on the Add Listing page yet.
We plan to do more work so that all the major builders work 100%, but at this time basic builders cannot be used on the GD pages and templates, only the theme builders.
More info about this here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/integrations/builders/
This was discussed in a different thread here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/problem-changing-home-page-to-custom-build-version/page/2/#post-450270
Basically, specifically, the add-listing page has some logic in it that switches to the desired post type form, and that logic is not yet immune to the charms of builders and specifically BB.
I have flagged your topic for the developers to post back here when they have an update on the issue.
GeoDirectory V1 replaces everything in the_content
You would need to customize the GD templates in order to alter that behavior in any appreciable way.
You will have more luck with GDV2 where the Page Attributes -> Page template for each GD page has some impact on the layout of the page. The sidebar generator may not work with that, but in general V2 will work better with your theme.
If you want to try to customize the templates, you can find instructions and an example here:
https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/customizing-geodirectory-templates/
You would need to alter each of the templates for each page where you want to insert a sidebar.
The setting for the Supreme sidebar is at
Appearance – Customizer – Body – Sidebar – Blog Sidebar Position
The options available are left and right
IN pulls up locations on the site (if they aren’t on the site, then it would be a 404).
IN is basically the location switcher behavior.
In V1 there was a setting to “go direct” to the location if it was clicked on.
I see an issue with “IN” so I have created a task to look at it.
Thanks for taking a close look at how it works!
Right, that is how it is supposed to work.
You can hide the layout selector feom the frontend with Custom CSS.Now users can choose to search near any places available from the Map API. Try searching Empire State Building for example.
There are a number of features still to be added and the user-side setting for distance is on the list to be looked at.
An update will be posted here when available
You can use the shortcode builder to create a new gd_loop with the layout you want.
https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/geodirectory/design-elements/#gd_loop
No, but you can use custom CSS to disable pointer events
https://www.w3schools.com/cssref/css3_pr_pointer-events.asp
Very general example to disable links:
#my-super-id h2 a { pointer-events: auto; }If you share the link to the page we can provide an example, or you can look through the forum for other examples.

Those are Custom Post Type and Location sitemaps. You will have to check the Yoast settings to see your options from removing them from the sitemap.
