Awesome – i didn’t catch that you pushed a new version today. I am glad to understand how it got fixed. Thanks!!
Kiran – thanks for the help. I confirmed that the problem was being caused by the ninja forms update version 3.4.22.1. However the prescribed fix, adding “ini_set( ‘display_errors’, 0 );” to wp-config did not fix the problem for me.
BUT – when I ran all plugin updates other than Ninja Formas (GD core, location mgr, adv search, claim listings, stackable, yoast) AND then updated ninja forms. I no longer have the map problem.
In short, I no longer have the problem, but don’t really understand why. In future, I’ll try just updated NF last when I have multiple updates to process.

January 24, 2020 at 11:04 pm in reply to: How do you handle a directory with both brick/mortar AND mobile businesses? #527331Paolo – thanks for responding. It is great that Areas Served is being considered. It definitely seems like it would not be simple, given how search currently works. Thanks.
January 24, 2020 at 6:10 pm in reply to: How do you handle a directory with both brick/mortar AND mobile businesses? #527294I have the same issue, and also unclear how to address it.
Alex R – doing a new CPT w/o a physical location doesn’t really address it. tinamama is not talking about an online service, but rather an in person service that operates within a geographical area, but doesn’t have one particular location.
A potential solution would be to require a business to set a “trade area” that was defined by picking multiple, cities, or counties or zips. They would then show up in the results for any geographic search term that was “in” the area they define. You wouldn’t be able to show it on a map, but it could be included in a results list.
Any way to do a solution like that?
This reply has been marked as private. Thanks Guust – yes, I’ve already done those things. I’m not looking for support, just any more specific documentation. For example, when Addictedtoweb created their theme, did they get any additional documentation to help them through it? Clearly, I’m not on that level and am not an official partner like they are (don’t mean to be presumptuous), I was just wondering if there was some tech spec somewhere that I could leverage. Thanks for considering the question.
Thanks Alex. I see in the docs where I can opt to not show cats in the auto-suggest results, but what I’m looking for is to have them suggested, but not automatically execute the form submit when they are clicked. I guess clicking on the auto-suggest is not actually filling and submitting the form, but is instead browsing straight (via href) to the gd-site/category page?
Can auto-suggest behavior be set by parameter in gd_search short code? Your suggestion to use the cat drop-down filter is a good one, but I’m saving that for an advanced search page, i’d like to keep the main search simple.
Related question: is it possible to require that all searches “near” rather than “in?” Thanks!
Naveen – I am indeed able to make updates, just using ID and post_type, which is super helpful. Was that stated anywhere in the documentation? would have been good for me to know that a couple weeks back, i assume I missed it.
Regarding my initial questions on the API, is there a general explanation of the features of the API? execution details are here https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/api/ but was wondering if there was a more basic explanation of what’s possible.
Thanks
Stofan – so… i may have just figured this out for myself. in reading support posts and thinking through my own many load errors, I was under the impression that any CSV upload to update existing records would have to include all fields for the given record or existing data would be overwritten with blanks. I just tested loading one record with just gd_post, post_title, post_status, post_author, post_type, post_date, post_tags, post_category and default_category + the custom field I wanted to update. It seems like that loaded fine. What are the minimum fields that have to be included when updated an existing gd_place record? Ideally it would just be gd_post_id and the field(s) to be udpated. Will that work (haven’t tested yet). Thanks.
