For example add it at GD > design > scripts > CSS.If your media settings are at 1024, images should not be scaled smaller than 1024 for the biggest dimension (height or width), I just tested it.

It will not change anything at all, except the title of the location page, and therefore the breadcrumb, on every location page (old and new).

Yes, you can change any CSS you like.
But all the CSS of the Modern Theme would also change the Newspaper theme, so you would have to be selective about it.

Your menu field was for basic listings only.
You had not selected for the custom field to be added to a tab (the tab created by the fieldset).
