As far as I am aware,in V2 listings can be in child categories only.
There is a bug with the maps on the location pages though. Listings that are not in a parent category will not show on the directory map.

We are working on a fix.

I am not sure where the package description is supposed to show.
To add the price etc on the frontend on the Add Listing page, you will have to add it to the Title of the package.
I’ll get a developer to have a look after the weekend too, to explain when the description possibly is used.
