I wonder if this issue is similar to the one I have with the check boxes for the categories not responding the first time, so that I have to click a second time on the check box to make it work?
I doubt it. I think what you are referring to there is that you are using the ajax chained categories field, and selecting one category then needs to load the next part, and maybe your server is a bit slow.
Not easy to comment without seeing it at work …If you only want to link but not prefil, do NOT click “Fill in Business Details”.
Searching the place is all that is required for linking, but if you want to prefil address etc, then you can click “Fill in Business Details”.Thanks
You’re welcome 🙂
Guust, you are talking about Location Manager. Earlier in this thread you mentioned that I needed to add CPT in order to be able to disable physical location. So I do not understand why I need to have Location Manager added now. Is this a v2 thing?
Yes, in V2 the option is activated differently.See image for an example of V2 category icons.
Post your URL and WP admin details in a private reply if you need more pointers.
You can find the wizard at GD > Settings > Help in the top right corner.
The documentation is here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2
V1 will eventually be retired, and V2 has extra features. Thanks
And why would I need to add a map icon, if I do not use a map or a physical location?
Because the icons are not only used as markers on the maps, but also as icons for the categories in widgets etc.Alex’s solution is for V1, I V2 you need the Location Manager activated, then you can go to GD > Settings > Post Types > edit any of the post types > Show advanced > and you will find a new option:
The widget ID can be found as indicated in the image. Right click on the search widget and choose “Inspect element”.
“if there are listings within the set search radius, a page will be served with those listings and the location of the visitor”
The /location/me page lists listings around your geolocation, not in the city of your geolocation.
Imagine your are at the edge of Austin, and the only listings you would get are Austin listings. You would not know about the Place that is on the other side of the street, because that is in the neighboring “city”.If you would like for users to be able to click on the category links and be served up locations near them and not All locations, then add the categories to the search bar so visitors can select categories of their choice, and then select the Near Compass.
Read the second dot point at https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/search-filters-overview/#redirect
if there are listings within the set search radius, a page will be served with those listings and the location of the visitor
GD calculates the geolocation of your device [not your IP].
Then it checks your database to see if there are listings near your geolocation.
If yes, you go to the /location/me page.
If no, you go to the closest city added to your database. You should see a blue dot on the location/me page with your location. See image for my location.
If that blue dot is close enough to listings, you will go to /location/me.That is because you have told your browser to remember your password, so it knows you are registered.
To register, you should click “Register”, not “Login”.This reply has been marked as private.Sorry, but that is not a pop-up from GD, so we cannot help with that.
ThanksIt geolocates correctly for me [on PC and Android]. Possibly geolocation has been turned off for the site? Geolocation can be disabled by a visitor for a site only, or a browser, or a device]. Only checking all these settings can solve your issue, because the site itself is working correctly.
Please review https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/search-filters-overview/#redirect
I get redirected to San Antonio, because that is closest to where I am {Australia].
Alex gets redirected to Austin, because he is closer to Austin than San Antonio.
You get redirected to the location/me page because you are within the set radius of where there are listings on your site. You need to fix your child theme if you want the enfold styling to be used, see my earlier posts.
Your child theme is breaking the links to the Enfold styling. -
