Sorry Guust, I just re-read my question and I wasn’t clear. When I add the shortcode it displays all categories and subcategories.
What I was thinking was lets say you have a main category for “Campgrounds” – when someone clicks on Campgrounds I wanted to have the Campground category page display the sub categories for campgrounds only, like “Campgrounds with electrical hookups”, “Campgrounds with swimming pools”, etc
This reply has been marked as private. Thanks!! Is there any way to add the subcategories to the top of a category page? So when you click on a main category that has subcategories it will take you to the main category page with the subcategories listed above the results?
Worked perfectly! Thank you!! That actually help me do other things I have been wanting to to as well so thank you for the detailed explanation!
One question…
Since I removed the subcategories how do I add those to the places/category/CATEGORYNAME pages?I should add that I am aware that this has a lot to do with the categories and subcategories, I was just hoping to not have it look so unorganized.
Thanks! I did find it in the Pages>GD Details Template and removed the shortcode GD Single Taxonomy which removed it from the content area.
I checked the widgets but did not see it there and it is still appearing on the sidebar. I believe it’s part of the “GD> Output Location” widget?
ok but either way it won’t show up on the edit place page, or add new place page in the backend.
In Places>Settings I do see the “Show Logo” checkbox field which I dragged to where I want it to appear but for some reason it’s not showing up.
Ok, thank you!
Thank you! I made a field named show_logo and copy/pasted the shortcode you created into the “Value” box and saved the page I wanted to remove the logo from. The shortcode was automatically added to the top of the page replacing the shortcode that was there. From here I am getting confused. I wasn’t able to find a place to change a setting to default checked.
On that category page I wanted to show the “Logo” image but when you click on the listing and view the listing page the logo image doesn’t show, so just want the logo image to appear on the category page only… but not for every listing on the directory, just the live webcams.
Using the link you sent in your last post… click on only one with the logo image. When you got to the page you will see the logo image which is not live, then the live images below.
It is possible to create a template where the code to show the logo image on the listing page is removed or commented out, then just assign the template to the listing individually? I would be ok with that.
Or maybe an easier fix would be to show the live image as the logo so the category page shows the live images?
I understand the GD setup wasn’t designed to do this, most are not. In the past I have had to customize a template just for the webcams.
ok I just thought that might have been some sort of bug as the menu works fine on the home page and the menu works on all pages when using mobile. Seems its just desktop on any page but home page.
I tried to make it less but I had a few emails asking where the long list went. I will try to find a workaround.
Hi,
Thank you for the help! I checked it again this morning. The left and right side issue seems to have been fixed when I added css for the menu size. But the issue with the menu going below the visible page remains. If you click on “Play” on the top menu to expand the dropdown it will drop right off the bottom of the page. For the most part that menu dropdown is in alphabetical order just to give you some idea how much is missing.
I attached two screenshots, one is how my screen normally looks, the other is the screen zoomed out which shown more of the menu but still not all of it.
Tried that, the category page doesn’t look good at all without the images.
Perfect, thank you!!
