Paid listings all go directly to publish status once transaction is completed.

You can determine within each price package which status each listings downgrade too when it expires.

I just tried updating from the plugin page instead of the update page in 2 different website and the plugin stayed active.

We cannot fix what we can’t recreate. Next time we have an update, if you want we can try doing it for you to verify this issue.
