if the default sort is set for featured listings, paid listing will appear on top of every generic query. Example, category name or tag.

If a keyword is entered, results are sorted by keyword relevancy, if a location/zip or street address is entered in the near field, listings are sorted by distance.

Having it any other way, would provide a irrelevant search results and a bad user experience.
