Great! Glad you found it, thanks for letting us know.
There is only the [#client_name#] and this is falling back to Business Owner. This feature was not developed for GDV1, but has been put into place in GDV2.
Subscriber is fine, that is the WP default.
The Popular Categories widget/shortcode has the option to ‘fikter for location” which is what you are looking for. Try that and let us know.
Menu links, if they are just custom links to a specific page can’t be filtered (they are as-is in thr menu).
gd_linked_posts is a complex shortcode. If the params you want are not available you will need to add a CSS class and target your own custom CSS to remove or adjust elements as needed.
An example for customizing address display per CPT has been posted here:
https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/address-format-per-cpt/#post-455938This is a customization for now, but we plan to add a tool for configuration of address later.
For the post_meta for phone, make sure it is part of the package and that it is not hidden.
December 5, 2018 at 3:54 pm in reply to: Listings – how do I get display of parent categories to appear #457223The image you show looks nice, but is not something that can specifically be created with GD; you can try using HTML and CSS, or, a builder like beaver builder to create something like that.
Please share the link to a listing with an image problem so we can check it out.
As I mentioned above, the listing I checked, the image was missing. The image will need to be added to the site. The image might have been deleted through the media libray or directly from the server. This is not a GD issue specifically.
When you find another listing with an image issue, edit the listing with the WP backend editor.
If the attachments area shows a broken file link that means the image is missing and needs to be replaced on the server.
Hello,
right now all of our focus is on V2 but this is something we have discussed in the past, it just isn’t a priority at this time.
Available replacement tags can be seen in the settings at:
GD – Notifications
[#client_name#] falls back to “Business Owner” in GDV1, but this has been changed in GDV2 to show the name of the new Listing Owner when available.
Hi Richard!
Welcome to our GeoDirectory forum.
Maps are shown on the frontend (the part of your site that visitor’s see) with widgets or shortcodes. These maps are not required. Just don’t add map widgets and they won’t show up.
However, unless you don’t use an address for listings at all (disabled via setting), maps are required in the add-listing form to help site visitors set a location/address for a listing.
If you are using an address, then street/city/region/country are required. It might be possible to hide them, on the form, but it isn’t recommended or supported.
If you run into a map you can’t get rid of, just write in and we will help you with that.
In another thread you asked about themes?
https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/not-geolocating-to-nearest-city/#post-457161You can see demos of all our themes here: https://wpgeo.directory
If those don’t work for you, you could also consider building your site with our new GeoDirectory V2 which is designed to work with any theme available out there in the wider world.
Most themes have settings for controlling basic font settings like color and size. These settings can usually be found in the “Customizer”, available at:
Appearance -> Customizer
That is in the WP Backend.
Booster will be retired with V1, and any cache plugin should work with V2.
Other addons are in development and being made compatible as we speak. Claim Listing was released today.
GDV2 has no home page, true, so you can add GD shortcodes to any WP page and set that as your WP Front Page or use a different page.
GD Location and Search pages cannot be set as WP Front page.
Full width widgets are the domain of the theme. Directory Starter and Supreme both feature a “Top” widget area with full width.

When browser geolocation is used for search, the results are “Near”, so, the database is searched based on the radius you set, and then the search results are shown and sorted by distance. They are not from a particular location (one city or another), just whatever listings fall within the search radius.
The Location Switcher directs the user to a location page. Location pages show all listings “IN” a given location (city/region/country).
The Advanced search option for First time load redirect applies only to new visitors, and the second option sounds like what you are after, to redirect them to the nearest location. If you only have two in your database that’s great, they will end up on the location closest to them.
To enable Geolocation you must use the Advanced Search setting : Ask user if they wish to be geolocated
@richard i have posted a reply in your other topic.
It is a shortcode that can be added to any post or page.
GDV1 is GeoDirectory Version 1, the current version available from WordPress.org
GDV2 is the new version that is still in development but many members have chosen to start building new sites with it or to test converting their current GDV1 sites. GDV2 features many improvements.
Please review the setup doc here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/addons/claim/#setup
If we need to check the settings please reply with WP Admin and your Status report in a private reply.
