Thanks this has been flagged for the developers.
Hello,
you will need an SSL cert for your site to use Geolocation services with the GMaps API.
https://wpgeodirectory.com/adding-a-ssl-certificate-to-your-website/
https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/gd-search/#nearOther than customizing with CSS, you can disable the scrolling map by unticking the “Map Sticky” setting in the widget in the GD Sidebar
Categories should show as a drop down field by default, below the description and above the map.
You can try a demo here: https://wpgeo.directory/supreme-directory/
You can create an account, login, and add a listing to see what it looks like.
Share your site URL if you are still having issues.
To add new categories go to Places – Place Categories in the WP Menu. Add categories there first, then select them when you are editing the listing.
Categories must be created first.
Please review the basic installation docs here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/basic-installation/
Hello,
Avia seems to be having a conflict with the new update.
We are working on a similar issue here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/unable-to-make-changes-to-records-places-even-as-admin/#post-436922
Could you please provide full FTP info so we could do additional troubleshooting?

Hello,
the Related Listings widget only pulls listings from the same city, so there isn’t an option at this time to relate to regions or other cities specifically.
You can add links directly to the location pages for those other places. Check the popular locations widget for that https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/location-manager-widgets/#pop
1. Yes, as stated in the doc (which also have a link to our blog post about the change in WP).
2. The string is in the core plugin file and may also be in your theme (or parent theme) translation file, or even in an addon. It is a string that is commonly overriden. You can share a link to the site and wp admin if we need to check the settings. Just make a reply here and mark it as private and only our team will be able to read it.
Is there any way to change the Cat ID for the Categories that are created under a Custom Post type? I am looking to alter the Cat ID’s the the taxonomy of the Categories can default in the order I would like it.
No, these are set sequentially by WP.
I am going to the Map (Supreme Theme) and the map pin defaults to the lowest Cat ID – or that’s how I understand it anyway. The problem is, that I recently restructured how I would like the listings to appear and I didn’t create those categories until recently. I can respond with more information and screen shots if needed.
The categories can be recreated in a specific order. Some members have done this for the same reasons you state. It is an involved process, though, as the categories must be deleted and then recreated, and they must match the posts (to which they were previously assigned) so some spreadsheet skills may be needed.
Be sure to read this whole page: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-export/
Also, when searching the listings, is there a way to have the default map pin of each Category be displayed on the map (search results) when the Category is chosen. Let’s say, if you pick Korean Food, the listings where you could find Korean food would all show up and have the category pin for “Korean Food” appear on the map?
You can add a GD Listing map widget to the GD Search page widget area. Have you tried that? Make sure you are not using the GD Home map there.
Please see this link for more info: https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/can-i-display-listing-randomly/#post-428728
Sorting options are only available on listing pages.
That should not happen under normal circumstances.
If the plugin did not activate and the issue can be recreated, please send over site access details so we can take a look.

Thanks for your interest in V2!
We are eager for more feedback about the use of the V2 Release Candidate with more themes.
We want V2 to ‘work’ with all themes, so, please do go ahead and set it up. Please only use the V2 addons that have been released to date (none have been released today but this will change rapidly). For more information see: https://wpgeodirectory.com/geodirectory-v2-first-beta-release/
To get started see: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/geodirectory/beta/
When I search the words “chip on a stick” on the home page, there are a few listings that come up that are not related to that search eg. “Ice Creamery on Wheels” shows up.
Also, why are the featured listings not showing up first in search.
Search includes title/description/categories/tags and results are weighted by relevance. Please share the search URL you have tested and a link to the listing that you think is missing from the search and we can take a look at it. You can read more about search here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/gd-search/
Featured can be used as an advance search criteria, but is not a factor in weighting search results otherwise. To feature listings on the search page it is possible to add a widget like GD Popular Post View with the listings restricted to ‘featured’.
Is it possible to search by category with a drop down in the search function?
It is possible to add a drop down that will restrict results by category: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/gd-search/#cat
On the page “Food Trucks”, what would be the best way to add a search function eg. category and location. A megamenu or sidebar menu?
Not sure what you are asking, as there is a search bar at the top of the page already.
Because the site is for the whole country, perhaps you could review the Location Manager widgets and try a popular location widget:
https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/location-manager-widgets/#pop
See this post for a discussion about output of post values
https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/change-layout-of-details-page/#post-40573There are no official recommendations for such a plugin and I have not personally used one before.
The topic is open in case other members have a recommendation.
