No, it will not show if not directly selected.
If you visit the “Uninstall” options and don’t use any uninstall options, then no, you won’t remove any data.
That is the Archive template.
Open the GD Archive WP Page, remove the GD Map shortcode, and use the shortcode builder to add a new one with the options you want.

I will flag your question for the developers. I may be mixing up the search suggestions and the category select in the search bar. I know the category select dropdown will not show empty categories.
As far as I know, no, that is the ‘new thing’. Before it was like that I got ‘stuck’ on lots of sites that made big maps beyond the borders of my phone and I could’t get the page to move. Ever happen to you?
