For v2, if you want a directory home page or front page you will need to make it as a regular WP Page:

The tags field should work for you. Let us know how it goes.
We are testing a new address widget now, it should be available in the next release. If the solutions above don’t work for you, then try the widget when it comes out.

You can add a GD Search widget with the option tray set to open as a shortcode or Widget.

sorry, it’s not an easy fix or we would have integrated the fix into GD already. A developer might be able to accomplish it.

it appears you have removed the map.
Near search is actually a lat lon query and requires lat lon to work correctly. Lat/lon’s input is the map pinpoint.
Until each listing has map lat lon no near search will work.
