There is the possibility that you have adjusted the listing default status inside the packages. Each package has settings to override the default settings
CPT (Places) Settings – Packages – Show advanced – Status (near the bottom)

Yes, sorting options in the CPT settings applies to the archive pages only.
2) I have 2 pages: a CPT page, named “Hotel-1”, where I view all my places, divided by category, and a WP page, named “Hotel”, that do the same thing with shortcode on page; my problems are that in “Hotel-1” page I can’t view search bar like in “Hotel” page and in “Hotel” page I can’t insert Sort By options like in “Hotel-1” page: how can I solve?
Hotel-1 is an archive page like /places/ ? Then add a search widget to the listing page sidebar (GD Listings Sidebar, top, etc).

You can adjust this in WP settings – WP – Settings – Reading – Posts per page

Distance is the default sort on Near search results. If the search is not a Near search, then there is no distance to be sorted. Featured can be set as the default sort in sorting options, but, near searches are always sorted by distance.

I am not sure I understand the issue you are reporting at this time and I cannot login to the site, getting an error with the credentials you gave.
I have tested this myself with importing new parent child categories on 20045 and I don’t see any issues with simply adding new categories or adjusting the name, for example, of an existing category and updating that with the import.
Can you say the exact issue and how we can recreate it?
In the past some members have created a new CPT called called “Group Listing” and then added a custom field with a link to the Group.
There is a bug in WordPress that you may run across if you try to upload a CSV file. When you try to upload the file, you may see an error:
