You normally change “Place” using custom post types addon to whatever you want it to be, not with the language file. And then you can translate “%s Title” and “%s Description”.

You should be able to just upload the ZIP like you install a new theme, and it should replace the old one.Usually you can access with phpMyAdmin through your hosting control panel.

You could try deleting them, both the old and new ones, and then recreate. That usually works for categories at least. If it does not work you will have to change it in the database.

Without seeing the code used I cannot comment really, but be careful with copying and pasting any code that has quotes or double quotes in it. Make sure they are not “curly” quotes.
