WP 5 will be ready for production when released, if you don’t feel like starting to use Gutenberg, just install the classic editor plugin before doing the upgrade.

Stuff will mostly remain as is.

A: The plugins will continue to work, you will no longer have access to support and updates for them. In such case you should avoid updating anything else, which is the only thing that could create new conflicts.

I’m sorry, but there is no option to do that, the only way would be to avoid using the 4th and adding a little css code to make the 3 use the full width of your website.

If you add 3 dummy widgets and provide a link to your website, we’ll provide the CSS.
