Thanks Guust. As I said when I installed it (and I did install Woocommerce first), I didn’t know what to do next. The welcome screen didn’t come up for setting it up. I understand it’s not integrated then so that’s why. I’ll try to work it out. I’ve looked at the link, thanks.

FYI. Yes I did! After doing the updates I found some of my Event settings had been lost. No events were showing under ‘Events’ and the Add Event link was going to the Homepage. A quick look at your documentation solved the latter. (Allow post type to add from frontend.)

All were sorted in GD>Design>Navigation, they all had just ‘place’ selected, not event as well. I’m not sure I have it all as it was but things seem to be working ok now. Weird. I can’t remember exactly how it was, where I had place and event selected, but it’s common sense. If I find anything else it will be an ‘event’ missing. Maybe everywhere I have ‘place’ I should also have ‘event’.

I did do a full backup before all these GD updates in case. 😉
    Thanks.

Thanks, Alex. It was odd that it was just one GD site. I’ve sorted it now and will await the next update.

I had the same problem with plugin uppdates! It was with one site only, another was ok. I’m about to sort it but thought that Support should know it wasn’t just one person who experienced this. I just checked to see if anyone else had experienced this issue, which they have.

It’s just the choice of categories when people add a listing – the dropdown in the add listing page so people can choose which category(s) their post belongs to. I don’t want them in the order I created or added them. It’s not the widget. I know there’s no setting to change the order that’s why i wondered if anyone has used a plugin to do it. Would it be compatible with Whoop if I tried it? I don’t know. There are a few on WordPress.org:

    Thanks.

Yes, I use Hootesuite too but not all the time. It’s good when you need to schedule posts. I’ve also found Instagram invaluable for some. I have both personal and business accounts for most SM accounts so it’s quite a lot of work. If you outsource you can lose the personal touch so it’s not easy but at some point something to think about. But at the end of the day you can only manage so many accounts or it becomes a full time job in itself!

The important thing is to find out which social media account works best for your niche. Finding out where potential clients are, which they use most, as its not the same for everything.

Monetisation should begin to grow once the groundwork is done and continues. Keep at it!

I found building up a really good Twitter account helped a lot. I engaged with people, talked to them and built up a relationship with potential and existing clients. So far it has more engagement than the Facebook account. I’m launching a new one this year in a very different area. This will involve a lot of face to face contact with people in the industry as well. I’m hoping this one will eventually be global. My first one was just local.

I have more in the pipeline which I’ve been working on for a while. Yes, it’s hard work and a long journey (particularly if not your main occupation as time is limited) but very worthwhile.

It’s a small thing which occurred after I moved it to a new VPS. I had a minor problem which I sorted. But this is weird. I wanted to get it all correct BEFORE converting. It’s just one minor thing but the setting must be somewhere in the code surely…? I need to exclude that city from the list. As many os us started with GT I just thought someone might know 🙁 I don’t think it’s specific to GT, GD plugin also has the dropdown menu.

I have delayed this for so many reasons for so long as a result of various issues. I just need to know where the info is located.

    Hi Guust,
I have now emailed you. If you know how I can fix point 2 myself, I would do it but can’t see why it’s happening. It’s all in my email.
    Many thanks.

    Hi Stiofan,
Yes I see and will have to work out the best procedure to use to make the conversion ‘live’. I have followed the instructions carefully on a copy of my site on a subdomain of my server just to see if it works ok. I will look again at creating a proper dev site. I think I hit a problem with this when following your instructions hence the subdomain route to test the procedure.

I did obtain a new API key so it must be something simple. I will indeed get back to you if I get stuck 😉
    Thanks for your help.
