Hi Frantletle,
OUR SUPPORT POLICY SAYS: We provide GeoDirectory and its addons as are. We don’t provide customization services for them nor we support any 3rd Party customizations of our products.
Once you change any core files, support stops completely. Like guarantee is voided on any product that a consumer modifies.
You put yourself in a terrible situation, blaming it on us is totally unreasonable…
Thanks
Hi,
did you change just the name of category and title of the post or also the slugs?
It’s the slug what really counts.
Let me know,
Thx
Hi,
there are still plenty of things to correct in the DB and I’d be much faster with a tool to perform search and replace like this: https://interconnectit.com/products/search-and-replace-for-wordpress-databases/
Basically there is still to change:
all country slug Italia to Italy in wp_geodir_post_locations, it would also be better to capitalize Lombardia in Region for all.
in wp_geodir_gd_place_detail change Italia to Italy in post_locations and post_country. It would also be better to capitalize Lombardia in post_region for all.
Finally in wp_geodir_countries delete Italia and keep Italy only.
This should fix most things. If you install that script or provide FTP, tomorrow I’ll finish, doing it manually is a pain that I would prefer to avoid.
Let me know,
Thanks
p.s. I can’t access the plugin page from admin, I get a 500 error.
Hi,
the problem with shared hosting can be multiple.
1 RAM, even if you are not consuming all your burst ram, all other website on your server combined could leave you with very little left. Remember that the burst ram is not guaranteed. Your guaranteed ram is probably very low
2 CPU, if a website is slowing down CPU it will slow it down for all
3 MYSQL more than anthing… if a website is slowing down with intensive queries, it will slow down all websites.
One thing that could have changed, is that you were on a server with 100 oher websites and now you are over 500…
I suggest to move to a better plan, at least a decent VPS or a Cloud instance.
For wptry I use Cloudways with a Digital Ocean Cloud instance of 1GB RAM.
It will look and feel 10x better than a godaddy shared plan and it only cost $15/month.
Thanks
hi,
compared to last time I tested, response time has lowered by 70%.
Removing the popular category widget only reduce loading time by few milliseconds, so it’s not the problem.
When there is such a great difference in response time throughout the day, it means the server is not behaving consistently.
What kind of server is hosting the website?
Let me know,
Thx
Thanks for the feedback Ashley!
I’ll set this as solved.
Hi,
seems like the server is taking a long time to reply for that particular page. On avarage 4 times more than any other page.
Would you provide wp admin credentials for us to do some quick testing?
I would like to try and remove the popular category widget momentarely to see if there could be a bottle neck in it’s queries.
Let us know,
Thx
Hi,
this has been reported to developers.
Thank you for spotting it.
Hi,
you can see instructions here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/split-icons-not-shown-on-maps-or-popular-categories/#post-33440
Or wait until tomorrow when we will release 1.4.0
Thx
There are 2 version of it.
Both can be seen here: http://wpgeo.directory/ in the main menu where it says Change Location (2nd from the right).
That’s the default option and it’s added directly via GD >> Multilocation to the menu you selected in GD >> Design >> Navigation as the menu to be used by GD for it’s elements.
There are also 2 Shortcodes:
1) [gd_location_tab_switcher]
this is like the location switcher usually added to the menu.
2) [gd_location_switcher]
this is best used on a page or a wide content area, this shows searchable lists of locations.
You can see it here http://wpgeo.directory/all-locations/
Thanks
Hi bob,
I’ve flagged this for developers to look into.
We’ll let you know asap.
Thanks
Hi,
that is because you aren’t using the plugin as designed.
Categories should only be used to identify listing sub-type (example for Custom Post Type Restaurant, Categories could be: American, Italian, Mexican, Pizzeria, Chinese etc… ) not locations.
For locations you should use the location switcher.
To sort alphabetically you have to go in Place settings and activate the AZ sort and make it default.
Thanks
Hi Giuseppe,
2 files called by a plugin are throwing errors.

Line 2I believe they could be JetPack modules. Could please try t disable them and see if the problem goes away?

Hi,
the categories are sorted by most active categories. (number of reviews present in listings for that category.) Just like the Yelp section that we cloned.
If you wish to suggest a new option you can always submit it here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/requests/
Thanks
