Edit any of the listings in the backend and if the Claim Listings is set up correctly, there should be an option in the sidebar.

Go to Place (or other custom post types) Categories and select any category to edit. Delete the icon there, upload your new one and save.

When people register on the login page, you are asking their Full Name, that will be their username and display name.

You might want to consider a more conventional theme if you want to use CPTs without addresses and want to use sidebars, like the Directory Starter theme?

The Near Me option is indeed geolocation using the browser functionality, and is not the same as selecting a location.I’ll get the developers to have a look at that.
