Can you limit how many listings a user can post for a specific CPT?

    Sorry, that is not possible.

How do I do this upgrade option?

Set the price package to have “upgrades”, see image.

Can I change the “featured” banner on the image to say “elite”?

    Please see https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/faqs/translate-new-and-featured/

Can these featured listings be shown first or the only listings shown?

Yes, that is done by setting default sorting.
For Home/Location pages that is done in the widget settings: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/widgets/#popular-post
For listing pages that is done by setting the Featured option as the default sort: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-place-settings/#sorting

    Thanks

Ii assumed you were talking about users seeing the field during submission.
I now guess you mean that they can see the data you entered in the backend.
If you do not want visitors to see the data added by admins, make sure that you do not select anything at “Show in what locations”: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-place-settings/#show

    Thanks

    1. I guess you are logged in as admin, they will only be hidden for non-admins.

    2. Yes, you need to select and/or de-select in the packages, at “post fields”.
Select by clicking while holding CTRL.

    3. See #1

    4. No

    5. See #2. They all show there, ready for you to select.

I sort of have two home pages now: a wp page set in the wp readings settings and the Location page set in the permalinks.

You have only one WEBSITE homepage, the one set at WP settings.
If you use a non-GD website homepage, you need to use the GD Location page as the homepage OF THE DIRECTORY. See https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/basic-installation/#home

If I turn the redirection to off or to redirect to default location – do I break something else?

    Should not be a problem.

I re-activated the GeoLocation JS plugin; it does not seem to give a problem anymore.

If one package does not allow a certain custom field, then changing to that package will remove the field. So make sure the new package allows all the custom fields you want.
As far as I am aware, the data stays in the database – or at least for some of the custom fields, so switching back to a package that allows the field should bring the data back.

    Thanks

    Correct.
And even if there was, nothing would stop people registering more than one account.

Did you use this setting: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/basic-installation/#media

If you need us to have a look, post your URL and WP admin details in a private reply and we will check for you.

    Thanks

Events do not expire, only listings expire.
Events might be upcoming, today or past; but they do not expire.
An event listing might be listed for a month and then expire, completely independent of the actual date of the event.

Hopefully that is clearer now. Thanks

This is standard WordPress taxonomy behavior.
[Just making sure we are all talking about the map legend on the Home/Location map, see image. That is the only place where you can tick parent and sub categories for maps.]

    So in the example
    category = restaurants
    subcategory 1 = french
    subcategory 2 = italian

An italian restaurant will be automatically in restaurants and italian restaurants.
So if you ask to show all restaurants on the map [that is what you do when you tick parent category restaurants], why would you expect not to see all restaurants?
If you only want italian restaurants then you have to exclude other restaurants by unticking french restaurants AND “all” restaurants.

I don’t know why you would think that leaving all restaurants ticked, that somehow would exclude some of them…

    So on the map,
There will be always 3 types of restaurants showing, even my user already decided what they want?

If your visitor only wants to see chinese restaurants, they should only tick chinese restaurants, not all restaurants. If they do that only 1 subcategory will show.

I hope that is clearer now? Thanks.
