BuddyPress Integration - Setup Guide

This setup guide will run through a typical setup of the BuddyPress Integration extension from start to finish.

Overview

The BuddyPress Integration extension extends your directory by integrating the powerful BuddyPress plugin with GeoDirectory. You can create a directory-driven social network, similar to the likes of Yelp or TripAdvisor.

For a full list of features see the BuddyPress Integration product page.

Installation

The first step if you haven't already, is to install the BuddyPress Integration extension. This can be done by following our guides on how to install an extension.

Step 1 - Settings

Once installed and activated, you can find BuddyPress Integration settings at GeoDirectory > Settings > BuddyPress.

BuddyPress Integration extension comes with sane defaults meaning the default settings will work for the majority of users, however, there are many customizations that can be done via the settings, for a full explanation of what all the settings do please see our settings overview.

Step 2 - Redirects and Slugs

Once you have installed and activated the BuddyPress Integration extension, you may wish to redirect certain pages to BuddyPress. For instance, you can redirect options such as GD Dashboard My Listing as well as the blog author links to BuddyPress profile links.

All such redirections can be handled in the BuddyPress Integration Settings page. Read the Settings Overview to learn more.

If you are using an older version of BuddyPress, you will need to change the slug of the GD Search page since BuddyPress older versions tend to hijack the /search URL slug.
