The header (site title, logo, menu and the space around them) belongs to your WordPress theme, not to GeoDirectory, so you change it with the theme’s tools. Which tools you have depends on whether your theme is a block theme or a classic theme.
Block themes
Block themes, including our Directory theme, keep the header in a template part that you edit with blocks.
- Go to Appearance > Editor.
- Open Patterns and select the Header template part. Some WordPress versions list it under Template Parts.
- Edit it like any other block content. For example, add a Site Logo block beside the Site Title, use Row and Group blocks to control width and alignment, and set spacing from the block settings.
- Save your changes.
Classic themes
Classic themes usually put header options in Appearance > Customize, often under Site Identity (logo, site title and tagline) and a Header section. Some also have a header widget area in Appearance > Widgets, where an Image or Custom HTML widget can add a picture next to the title.
Anything the options do not cover can be changed with CSS in Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS. Use your browser’s inspector to find the class of the part you want to change and override it. The class names below are only an example, yours depend on the theme:
.site-header .site-branding {
max-width: 100%;
text-align: center;
}
Avoid editing functions.php
One typo in a theme’s functions.php can take down the whole site, including the admin area. Add PHP changes with the Code Snippets plugin instead, and use a child theme if you need to change the theme’s template files. Both survive theme updates, and a broken snippet can be switched off from the admin.
