To list the events held at a place on that place’s page, link the events to the place and then show the linked events in a tab or block. The old [gd_event_listing] shortcode belonged to GeoDirectory v1 and no longer exists.
1. Link events to places
Linking post types is part of the Custom Post Types add-on. In the settings of your Events post type, set it to link to Places. Once that’s saved, the add event form gets a field where the organiser picks the place the event belongs to. How to link two custom post types has the details, including whether users can link to places they don’t own.
2. Show the events on the place page
Use the GD > Linked Posts widget on the place’s details page, set to show the events that link to the current place. For example:
[gd_linked_posts link_type="from" post_type="gd_event" post_limit="10"]
You can also use GD > Listings with the post type set to Events and the Linked Posts filter set to the current post. That gives you the extra event options of GD > Listings, such as showing only upcoming events. See How to use GD > Listings for events.
3. Put it in an Events tab
- Go to Places > Settings > Tabs.
- Add a Fieldset tab and name it Events.
- Paste the shortcode from step 2 into the tab content box and save.
Any shortcode in a tab’s content box is run when the tab is shown. See How to use the Tabs Builder in GeoDirectory.
To show all events in one event category instead, use GD > Listings with the post type set to Events and the category selected.
