Use the [gd_listings] shortcode (or the GD > Listings block). It works on any page or post, not only on GeoDirectory template pages, so you can build a standalone page such as an A to Z list of places with their city and region.
A basic alphabetical list of places looks like this:
[gd_listings post_type="gd_place" sort_by="az" post_limit="50" layout="0"]
sort_by="az" sorts by title, layout="0" shows a list instead of a grid, and post_limit sets how many listings to show. All the other options are in the GD > Listings doc, and the shortcode builder shows every option with its current values.
Add the address to each listing
Each listing in the list is drawn with the archive item template, the same one used on category and search pages. If the address is not showing, it is not in that template. There are two ways to add it.
- Go to Places > Settings > Custom Fields, open the Address field and tick Listings page under Show in extra output location. The default archive item template contains
[gd_output_location location='listing'], which prints every field set to that location. - Or edit the archive item template page itself (set at GeoDirectory > Settings > General > Pages, Archive item page) and add
[gd_post_address]or[gd_post_meta key="address"]where you want the address to appear.
Both methods change every listing card on the site. If you want this page to look different from your category pages, create a second archive item template page with the layout you want, then point the shortcode at it with template_type="page" and tmpl_page set to that page ID. The Design or Customize GeoDirectory Pages doc explains how the template pages work.
Counting linked events
GeoDirectory has no option to show how many events are linked to each place. That needs a custom snippet, or you can show the linked events themselves on the place details page with the GD > Linked Posts block.
