Address suggestions from Google need the Places API enabled on your Google Maps API key. If you type an address and no suggestions appear, while the map itself loads fine, a missing or blocked Places API is the most likely cause.
GeoDirectory uses Google’s autocomplete for the “from” address in directions, and the Location Manager add-on uses it for the street field on the add listing form and for location search suggestions.
Fix it
- Open the Google Cloud Console and select the project your key belongs to.
- Go to APIs & Services > Library, search for Places API and enable it.
- Open the key under APIs & Services > Credentials. If it has API restrictions, add Places API to the allowed list. If it has website restrictions, check your site’s domain is listed.
- Clear any page cache and try again.
You can also click Generate Key at GeoDirectory > Settings > General. It opens Google with every API GeoDirectory uses already selected, including Places, Geocoding and Maps Static, then paste the new key into Google Maps API KEY.
Still no suggestions?
- Press F12 and check the browser Console. Google prints the reason, for example an API that is not activated or a key that is not authorized for your domain.
- Check Maps API at GeoDirectory > Settings > General (under Show Advanced). Google suggestions only work when Google Maps is the map loaded. With OpenStreetMap the suggestions come from OpenStreetMap instead.
- Look for JavaScript errors from other plugins, which can stop our scripts before autocomplete starts.
