The GeoDirectory add listing form is built from the custom fields of each post type. To add, remove or reorder what people fill in, you edit those fields. The page itself only holds the form, so editing the page changes what shows around the form.

Add, remove or reorder fields

  1. Go to Places > Settings > Custom Fields. For another post type, use the Settings page under that post type’s menu.
  2. The list on the right shows the fields in the form now, in the order they appear. Drag a field to move it.
  3. Click a field to change its label, description, placeholder and whether it is required.
  4. To add a field, click one in the Standard Fields or Predefined Fields lists. Business Hours, Email and Website are examples of predefined fields.
  5. To remove a field, click the bin icon next to it. Save when you are done.

The title, description, tags, category, address and images fields are core fields and can’t be deleted, but you can still edit their settings. A field you only want admins to fill in can be set to “Admin edit only”, and a field you want to keep but hide can be set to inactive with the “Is active” setting.

For a step by step example, see how to add a custom field to a custom post type. You can also show or hide fields based on other answers with conditional fields.

A separate add listing page for each post type

One add listing page can handle every post type. GeoDirectory adds ?listing_type=gd_place (or your post type) to the link so the right form loads.

If you prefer a page per post type, for example an Add Restaurant page:

  1. Create a new page.
  2. Add the GD > Add Listing block, or the shortcode [gd_add_listing post_type="gd_restaurant" show_login="1"] with your own post type key.
  3. Publish the page and add it to your menu.

Each post type also has an “Add listing page” setting under Places > Settings > General in the advanced settings, so GeoDirectory links to your new page wherever it shows an add listing link for that post type.

To add text or images above the form, edit the add listing page and add your content above the block. The add listing page guide covers the page setup.
