GeoDirectory search results use their own template page, separate from the one used by category pages. If search results look different (narrower, a sidebar appears, different spacing), the two templates are usually set up differently.
Check which template each page uses
- Go to GeoDirectory > Settings > General > Pages. Note the page set as Search Page and the page set as Archive page.
- Open each page in the editor and look at the page template in the page settings (for example Default, Full Width or No Sidebar, depending on your theme).
- Set both to the same template if you want search results and category pages to match, then update.
GeoDirectory uses the page template chosen on the Search Page for search results and the one on the Archive page for category and post type pages. To force one template on all of them, set Page template file override at GeoDirectory > Settings > Design > Archives.
Compare the content
The Search Page and the Archive page each have their own blocks. If one has a search bar, a map or loop actions and the other does not, the pages will look different. Copy the layout from one to the other so they match.
Layout breaks only for some searches
If the page looks fine for a keyword search but breaks when a category is selected, the extra text in the title or above the results may be clashing with your theme’s styles. Things to try:
- If you use Advanced Search, turn off the option to display searched filters and test again.
- Check the search page title in GeoDirectory > Settings > General > Titles & Meta under Search page.
- Switch to a default theme for a moment to see whether the problem is theme CSS.
How does the GeoDirectory search work explains how searches reach the results page.
