The shape and cropping of listing images are set on the GD > Post Images block, widget or shortcode wherever it is used. Two settings matter: Aspect ratio sets the shape of the image area, and Image cover type decides whether the photo fills that area (and gets cropped) or fits inside it.
The settings
- Aspect ratio: Default (16by9), 21by9, 4by3, 1by1 (square), or No ratio (natural), which uses each image’s own shape.
- Image cover type: Default (cover both) fills the area and crops what does not fit. Width cover and height cover fill one direction. No cover (contain) shows the whole image with space around it if needed.
- Image size: which WordPress image size to load, such as medium or large.
For photos of people, a square area with no cropping keeps heads in view:
[gd_post_images type='image' aspect='1x1' cover='n' image_size='medium']
Use cover='y' instead if you want the square filled edge to edge and do not mind some cropping at the sides.
Where to change it
- Archives, search results and GD > Listings blocks: edit your archive item template (its page is set in GeoDirectory > Settings > General > Pages) and change the GD > Post Images block in it.
- The listing details page: edit the details template the same way and change the GD > Post Images block there, usually the slider at the top.
With a page builder, edit its GeoDirectory template instead. GD > Post Images covers every option, and How to Resize GD Post Images? shows how to limit the width with CSS.
