GeoDirectory uses normal WordPress user accounts and doesn’t have a registration form of its own. To let people choose what kind of account they’re signing up for, use UsersWP, our free registration and profile plugin that works with GeoDirectory. UsersWP has user types: each type has its own registration form and assigns its own WordPress role.
Set up a user type for each role
- Install and activate UsersWP from Plugins > Add New.
- Go to UsersWP > User Types and add a user type for each kind of account, for example Business Owner and Visitor.
- For each user type, pick the role in User Role to Assign. Administrator isn’t offered.
- Add or remove fields on each type’s form if the accounts need different details.
- Go to UsersWP > Settings > General > Register and select the forms in Register Form(s).
With more than one form selected, the registration page shows a choice of user type above the form. User Type Selector Style, on the same screen, shows that choice as buttons or as a dropdown.
Only add roles you’re happy for anyone to have, since the visitor gets the role of the type they choose as soon as they register.
Showing particular forms
To show a set of forms on one page, give their IDs to the register shortcode:
[uwp_register limit="1,2"]
Plugins that add a role picker to the default WordPress form at wp-login.php only change that form. They don’t change front end forms such as UsersWP’s, so use the user types above instead.
