The heading on the GeoDirectory search results page comes from the Titles & Meta settings. By default it is Search results for: %%search_term%% %%search_near%%.
- Go to GeoDirectory > Settings > General > Titles & Meta.
- Scroll to the Search page section.
- Change Title. This is the heading shown on the page.
- Change Meta Title and Meta Description if you also want different text in the browser tab and in search engine results.
- Save the settings.
Variables for the search page
%%search_term%%: the keyword the visitor typed.%%for_search_term%%: “for” plus the keyword, or nothing if there was no keyword.%%search_near%%: “near” plus the location the visitor searched.%%search_near_term%%: the location on its own.%%pt_plural%%and%%pt_single%%: the post type name, such as Places or Place.
With Location Manager, location variables such as %%in_location_single%% are replaced by the search near values on the search page, so %%search_near%% is the one to use there.
If you use an SEO plugin
When Yoast SEO, Rank Math, SEOPress or All in One SEO is active, that plugin controls the meta title and description. GeoDirectory still sets the Title heading on the page.
Changing the word “Places”
“Places” is the plural name of the post type. Rename it under Places > Settings > General. To stop visitors switching post type in a search bar, tick Hide Post Type Selector in the GD > Search block settings. The option appears when you have more than one post type.
