When you add images to a listing, GeoDirectory uploads each file in the background to a temporary folder and attaches it when you save the listing. If the upload bar runs but no image appears, or nothing happens when you drop a file, go through these checks.
- File size. GeoDirectory has its own limit, set in GeoDirectory > Settings > General under Max upload file size (in mb). Click Show Advanced to see it. The default is 2 MB. Your server’s PHP upload limit also applies, and the setting’s description shows the current WordPress maximum.
- File type and number of images. Go to Places > Settings > Custom Fields and open the Images field. Check Allowed file types and File upload limit (0 means unlimited). If you use the Pricing Manager, the listing’s package can set its own image limit.
- Folder permissions. Uploads go to a
geodir_tempfolder insidewp-content/uploads. If that folder is created but stays empty, check that the uploads folder is writable and that the server has disk space. - Security plugins and firewalls. The upload is sent to
wp-admin/admin-ajax.php. Firewall rules in security plugins (Wordfence has been reported) or a server firewall such as ModSecurity can block it. Check the firewall log, or pause the firewall briefly to test. - JavaScript errors. Open the browser console on the add listing page and look for errors. Then deactivate other plugins and switch to a default theme to test. If uploads start working, turn things back on one at a time to find the conflict.
If the upload shows “You are not allowed to perform this action.”, the logged-in user does not have permission to edit that listing.
