Any GeoDirectory custom field can go into listing titles and meta descriptions as a variable. The variable is the field key with an underscore in front, between double percent signs. For a field with the key metro, that is %%_metro%%.
Find the field key
Go to Places > Settings > Custom Fields, open the field and look at its Key setting. Use the key exactly as it appears there.
GeoDirectory’s own titles and meta
- Go to GeoDirectory > Settings > General > Titles & Meta.
- In the Single post pages section, add the variable to Meta Title or Meta Description, for example
%%title%% %%sep%% %%_metro%% - Save changes.
If the listing has no value for that field, the variable is replaced with nothing.
Yoast SEO and Rank Math
When Yoast SEO or Rank Math handles your meta tags, GeoDirectory adds its variables to that plugin with a _gd_ prefix. For the custom field above, the Yoast variable is %%_gd__metro%% (two underscores, one from the prefix and one from the field). Add it in the Yoast settings for the post type, or on a single listing.
The full lists of variables and where to use them are in How to use GeoDirectory snippet variables in Yoast and How to use GeoDirectory snippet variables in Rank Math.
