GeoDirectory shows review ratings as five Font Awesome stars by default. You can change their colour, swap the star for another icon or your own image, and change the text that appears when a visitor picks a rating. All of this is in GeoDirectory > Settings > Design > Reviews.
Change the star colour
Rating color sets the colour of the selected stars (orange by default) and Rating color off sets the colour of the stars that are not selected. Pick the colours and save.
Use a different icon or an image
Click Show Advanced at the top of the settings page to see the extra options:
- Rating type: choose Font Awesome or Transparent Image.
- Rating icon: the Font Awesome icon to use when the type is Font Awesome, for example a heart instead of a star.
- FA fixed width: adds a little more space between icons if they look cramped.
- Rating transparent image: the image to use when the type is Transparent Image. Use a PNG with a transparent background, because the rating colours show through it.
Change the rating labels
Rating text 1 to Rating text 5 are the labels shown as a visitor selects one to five stars on the review form. Leave them empty to use the defaults, or enter your own wording. These are also advanced settings.
The page Settings overview for Design > Reviews describes each field.
Paging long lists of reviews
GeoDirectory reviews are WordPress comments, so paging follows the WordPress setting. Go to Settings > Discussion, tick “Break comments into pages” and set how many top level comments to show per page. When a listing has more reviews than that, page links appear under the reviews.
Several ratings per review
If you want visitors to rate more than one thing, for example service, value and cleanliness, you need the MultiRatings and Reviews add-on. It adds extra rating criteria next to the overall rating, with their own styles. See How to add new ratings and rating styles.
If some stars or icons show as empty squares, another plugin or your theme is probably loading a different version of Font Awesome. Check the Font Awesome settings page.
