The GD > Search block has a setting that hides the Near field, so you do not need CSS for this.
- Edit the page, template or widget area that contains the search bar.
- Select the GD > Search block (or open the GD > Search widget).
- Tick Hide Near Search Input.
- Save, then clear your site cache if you use one.
If you use the shortcode, add the hide_near_input option:
[gd_search hide_near_input="1"]
Change every search bar on the site, as the search results template and your header can each have their own. If the search bar comes from your theme’s settings, look for the GD > Search block in the theme or template that outputs it.
With the Near field hidden, visitors search by keyword only. The setting next to it, Hide Main Search Input, does the opposite and leaves only Near. To keep Near but change its placeholder text, go to GeoDirectory > Settings > General > Search. For other changes to the look of the bar, see How to Adjust the GD Search Bar with CSS.
