The category and tag links near the top of a GeoDirectory listing page come from the GD > Single Taxonomies element in your Details page template. Remove it, or change its settings, and the links go away on every listing.
Remove the categories from the details page
- Go to GeoDirectory > Settings > General > Pages and find the Details Page setting.
- Edit that page.
- Delete the GD > Single Taxonomies block. If you use the classic editor, delete the
[gd_single_taxonomies]shortcode instead. - Update the page.
To keep the tags and drop only the categories, leave the element in place and set its Taxonomy option to Tags. The Limit option caps how many terms are shown, which helps when a listing sits in a long list of categories.
If you would rather show the categories in a sidebar, GD > Single Taxonomies is also available as a widget, so you can add it to the sidebar in Appearance > Widgets.
Does hiding them change anything else?
No. The listing keeps its categories, still appears on each of its category pages and can still be found by category in the search. Only the links on the listing page itself are gone. For more on the element and its options, see GD > Single Taxonomies.
Categories or locations?
If you are planning categories for countries, regions or cities, use locations for that instead. With the Location Manager add-on, GeoDirectory already gives you pages for a category within a location (hotels in one city, for example), so you do not need a category for every place name. Building locations into categories as well creates near-duplicate pages and a category list that is hard to keep tidy.
