GeoDirectory can accept listings from visitors who aren’t logged in. They enter their name and email on the add listing form, and GeoDirectory creates an account for them when they submit.
Turn it on
- Go to Settings > General in WordPress and tick Anyone can register next to Membership. Without it, logged-out visitors see a message that registration is disabled.
- Go to GeoDirectory > Settings > General and click Show Advanced.
- Under Listing Settings, tick Allow posting without logging in? and save.
What happens when a guest submits
The add listing form gets a Your Details section with Name and Email fields. When the form is sent:
- If the email belongs to an existing user, the listing is added to that user’s account.
- If not, GeoDirectory creates a new user and WordPress sends its usual new user emails, so the owner can set a password, log in and edit the listing later.
New listings get the status set in New listing default status on the same settings screen. Leaving it on Pending Review lets you check guest submissions, and any spam, before they go live.
